kitty animation work huge win

a rather slapdash statepixel ../data/worldmap.png test shows huge improvements from the kitty animation (#1439) work in #1897 shows tremendous wins.

current master (shows flicker and some other weird behavior):

3960 renders, 708.54ms (104.69µs min, 178.92µs avg, 913.18µs max)
3960 rasters, 392.20ms (49.07µs min, 99.04µs avg, 173.67µs max)
3960 writes, 105.38s (53.40µs min, 26.61ms avg, 93.89ms max)
8.05GiB (16B min, 2.08MiB avg, 2.08MiB max)
0 failed renders, 0 failed rasters, 0 refreshes
RGB emits:elides: def 3957:28 fg 3957:28 bg 3957:28
Cell emits:elides: 7970:59308868 (99.99%) 0.70% 0.70% 0.70%
Bitmap emits:elides: 3959:1 (0.03%) 8.05GiB (99.99%) SuM: 3958 (99.95%)

with this change (perfect behavior):

3960 writes, 308.19ms (23.81µs min, 77.83µs avg, 22.93ms max)
10.97MiB (8B min, 2.83KiB avg, 2.08MiB max)
0 failed renders, 0 failed rasters, 0 refreshes

so that's about a 50% reduction in running time. furthermore, that same statepixel test emits 10.97MiB, instead of 8.05GIB, a reduction of about 99.9%. you can't hate on that! w00t w00t w00t =].
