Convergence between DANDI Layout and BIDS

Ultimate goal: abandon ad-hoc DANDI layout and thus benefit from all BIDS goodness!

Compromise goal: we arrive at BIDS-based (patched BIDS schema) standard.

The approach: bring what is good in DANDI to BIDS to make BIDS more convenient for researchers working in DANDI supported fields of neuroscience.

Major aspects

• BEP032 (https://bids.neuroimaging.io/bep032) as to provide general support for microelectrode electrophys in BIDS
• Make it possible to specify folders layout to be other than sub-{label}/[ses-{label}/] bids-standard/bids-2-devel#54
• TODO: find it. Allow in BIDS more composite "labels" so we could have - or at least + in the label within the filename
• BIDS filename suffixes in DANDI might need to be changed
• we would need to be able to ensure that BIDS metadata is non-ambigously maps into dandi-schema. Known issues:
  • Disambiguate Authors: format is not specified, and not enriched with ORCID bids-standard/bids-2-devel#82

Left-over aspects

which unlikely to be resolved in BIDS and need more thinking on how to resolve to become properly BIDS compliant:

• ATM we use composite suffixes suchas _behavior+ecephys whenever nwb contains multiple data types. TODO: decide on what to do about that. May be could be resolved via:
