[FEATURE REQUEST] Change Korean font #896
Comments
Godmode9 only allows 8x8 pixel fonts, so finding suitable font glyphs is quite hard. For now Korean use fusion-pixel-font, which originally comes from galmuri, and I think it's the best option for now.. |
See #895, I initially used the old GodMode9 8x8 font for latin for simplicity. The change suggested there works for Korean too, I did initially not do that for a reason though which is the full width section of that font contains no accented letters. Getting you words like PokéMon instead of just Pokémon which I figured what likely enough to happen that I avoided that solution That said I think the correct solution to this is to do what that PR is doing (and to the ko font too) it just needs accented letters to be created or such (Edit: fusion pixel font is a bispace font, not monospace, which gm9 doesn't support so with zero changes it would l o o k l i k e t h i s) |
will take some time to also fix accented letters, but likely only after done with translation |
8 wide is very beneficial from a memory standpoint, each line is one byte. (Which is currently how GM9 stores all fonts, display width is a separate variable) A 10 wide font would require up to doubling the memory footprint. If we have the full 3DS RAM available that's not terrible by any means, but doubling the memory and cutting the display columns from 50 to 40 (English is 66)... I find the Japanese translation fine-ish at 6 wide kanji with 8 wide being very readable, though I could see it being worse for Chinese I suppose. |
If I find time I'll reply to your PR with edited fonts (with proper extended latin that is) |
korean font that built in project unmatch with english font.
english font is bold, but korean font is thin.
I personally recommend dalmoori/galmuri font, because these font has 7~8px.
