most Youtube users don't use shortcuts but many are confused by an accidental shortcut every now and then
(like once for every x usage hours, or however often they type keys accidentally).

  • feature request: disable rarely used, often accidental Youtube Shortcuts consisting of a single letter or single digit key ( k j l f i c o w m 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9)
    (=all except the rarely accidental or most popular ones, which are intuitive like space ← → , . )

    • option: disable all shortcuts too

  • If after an accidentally triggered single-letter YouTube Shortcut follows another letter, within 1 seconds, then it likely that the shortcut wasn't intentional and the action can / could be undone or aborted. (And it can be ignored if it comes in the middle of a whole string typed....)

just another UX thoght: apps could even learn & predict: Full-screen, pause or previous/next video could be confirmed as accidental easily everytime they are undone immediately with the mouse, not even knowing what happened.

PLAYBACK

Toggle play/pause k space
Rewind 10 seconds j
Fast forward 10 seconds l ← → 5 seconds is more intuitive
Previous video P (SHIFT+p)
Next video N (SHIFT+n) (rarely accidental)
Previous frame (while paused) ,
Next frame (while paused) .
Decrease playback rate < (SHIFT+,)
Increase playback rate > (SHIFT+.) (rarely accidental)
Seek to specific point in the video (7 advances to 70% of duration) 0..9
Seek to previous chapter CONTROL + ←
Seek to next chapter CONTROL + → (rarely accidental)

GENERAL

Toggle full screen f
Toggle theater mode t
Toggle miniplayer i (potentially confusing / rarely useful)
Close miniplayer or current dialog ESCAPE (rarely accidental)
Toggle mute m (potentially confusing, often useful)

SUBTITLES AND CLOSED CAPTIONS

If the video supports captions, toggle captions ON/OFF c (sometimes useful)
Rotate through different text opacity levels o (rarely useful)
Rotate through different window opacity levels w (rarely useful)
Rotate through font sizes (increasing) + (rarely accidental)
Rotate through font sizes (decreasing) - (rarely accidental)

SPHERICAL VIDEOS (applied conditionally by type of video?)

Pan up w
Pan left a
Pan down s
Pan right d
Zoom in + on numpad or ]
Zoom out - on numpad or [
