help wanted
Just an old github standard we add automatically. (The team can remove it when working on it.)
up-for-grabs
(a github standard for inviting new contributors) - Welcome! ♥
⚬ PROBLEM:
Currently YouTube abbreviates/generalises the upload date to: 1 month ago ; 6 days ago ; 2 years ago
⚬ SOLUTION:
Add an option that disables this abbreviation and shows the real upload date.
The date is shown when the video is selected and then description expanded.
(In search/channel view)
(When video player is active - Description NOT expanded)
(When video player is active - Description IS expanded)
⚬ ALTERNATIVES:
I can not think of any
⚬ RELEVANCE / SCOPE:
This was once by default on YouTube.
I think it would be very welcomed feature (not sure though if by default) as when you looking something up that has a precise time relevance (For ex. You looking up some news or advancements in science you can get videos that do explain the phenomena, but for example there is some advancement that is crucial, and you know it was somewhere about 10-13 months ago. Then imagine when you search for that topic and the video was uploaded just shy of 2 years mark and in search is shows a date of 1 year ago. You know for sure that it can not be that video if you would have seen the real upload date but because you can not you are forced to click on it and check the description.) and sometimes to know at first glance how old this video is so you can work with that from the get go.
This will also save so much time for people with bad internet connection or not as fast PCs as they would not have to first load the video and than see the date
⚬ "SIDE EFFECTS":
I don't think that it would bother anyone. In fact it would serve similar purpose as the "Hide date" option.
⚬ CONTEXT:
As I explained above in "Relevance / Scope" section, this will save a lot of time.
From personal experience I know this will help when doing any kind of research that has to bee done quick. That being something to do with work, excel tutorials (As office 365 is constantly updating), or just doing your school work at the last minute.
