I am building time-series charts of weather data and heating-gas consumption that span days to weeks. With all grid lines having the same appearance it is very hard to recognize day boundaries in the graph.

I strongly recommend adding major grid line styling options similar to what is already available for tick marks.

I am exploring adding a pseudo dataset to convey the boundaries but this is a kludge I would prefer to avoid.

Thanks much,
Bill

This has been implemented for 3.0 by allowing you to specify a function for the option: #6700

I proposed last night that we do the same for the labels in place of the the major styling options which are less flexible: #6939

I'm going to close this since it's been implemented (though unfortunately you will have to wait for 3.0 to come out)
