Can't get steam vr to allow alvr plugin (debian all native packages)

Description

ALVR launches steam, steam comes up with blocking plugin, I allow it the plugin but then steam has to restart to see headset, when it returns it is still blocking ALVR plugin. Some times I get a steam has crashed for unknown reason :), delightful error handling in steam vr. Did file checks on steam vr etc. Not sure what changed, it worked last night. Tried steam vr reinstall. attached session and log, but ALVR doesn't seem to even see the issue.

removed ALVR and reinstalled, this seemed to fix it. Sigh.
