According to Masorah, the verse starts with וַֽיְהִי֙ and not with וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙. In the text used by Sefaria, there is some kind of footnote explaining this.

If there's truly a discrepancy between Ashkenaz/Sephard, I would need to think about how to represent that in the app. I also assume this may not be the only instance. I'm open to hearing ideas.
