Fragment path changes when authoring with different branch

I have a header fragment at /content/site/us/en/fragments/nav. When working with the default branch this fragment loads correctly. However, if I change the branch with ?ref=feature-branch, this fragment path changes to something like "/content/site.feature-branch/us/en/fragments/nav". Another scenario, in some cases the path points to old locations probably cached before moving the fragment location.
