Wikidata contains the property "NUTS code" (P605), which could be used to check the available data. It is used as an identifier for a region per NUTS. https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P605

An example usage can be found for Alsace (Q1142) https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q1142
