Moviepy is wonderful project, turning very popular (almost 1200 stars!). We need a mailing list to

  • send Important announces (new releases, big api changes, etc.)
  • discuss raw ideas (don't replace github issues)
  • share examples and success stories :)
  • get community support

http://librelist.com/ is a good option.

There is one :) just send a mail to moviepy@librelist.com to register, we will be three ;). For some reasons people prefer to ask questions on Reddit or github.

Oh! So, you should highlight it in the README and in the doc. I've been following the project (from the shadows) and I didn't notice it. May be there are more people in my condition.

I guess that stackoverflow/ and github issues are replacing the old primary goal of a user mailing list (get support) in a good way, but a list still have sense for many other reasons: if I did a new fx that I'm proud of I wouldn't open an issue, nor a PR (may be a post in blog). But probably I'd say in a list: hey see what i did and it worked 👯

So, we need to spread the list and convert "many users" in "a community". Also, an IRC channel in freenode would help.

PS: btw, is a mistery for me why people use reddit. It's ugly and unconfortable to ask and search.

I agree with all you said (I'll update the readme and main page).

For Reddit, it is clearly not the right place to discuss about a library, but I mostly advertized MoviePy on r/python and r/programming, so I guess some MoviePy users already know/have an account on Reddit, it makes it simpler for them.

Hey Martin ! I added the mailing list to the readme and I'll update the docs when I have time. I don't know anything about freenode, but if you open something there, I'll join :)
