Window flickering on some applications when using fcitx on SwayFX

  • swayfx version 0.4 (based on sway 1.9.0)

• Description:

  • Applications becomes slow to respond and begin flashing, as if the window would be re-rendered multiple times. This happen when text input fields are focussed, i.e. the url bar or text fields from websites.
  • It seem to happen less if the window can be started with on an empty workspace, in contrast to a workspace with already a few windows present.
  • The first and often working solution is to maximize the application. If that doesn't work you have to re-open the Application on a different workspaces (up to) a few times.
  • The problem can be reproduced on an Intel Iris XE Graphics based Thinkpad, the same config does not produce the error on my AMD desktop. Though both systems differn in more ways, such as Display resolution.
