According to this, at first instance, .unitex.cfg is not used on Windows. However, a file named Users/YOUR_USERNAME.cfg should be available somewhere to keep the location of your private repository.

Which version of Windows do you use? Is there any error message if you run Unitex.jar from the windows command prompt?

Version: Windows 7 Edition Familiale Premium
If I run Unitex.jar from the windows command prompt there is no error message.
If I change "manually" the directory path in the .unitex_cfg file this is taken into account by the Unitex IDE.
