Answer the following questions in comments on your WIP Issue:

  • What is the best way to ask a question?
After attempting the problem, googling it, then trying to work with a fellow student, you may then ask the instructor. It is best to explain what you're trying to do, how you attempted to do it, and what research you've found.
  • How can you explicitly schedule time with your instructor to review a problem?
Through calendly, during lab time, office hours.
  • Are there any other times that we're available?
Lab hours, office hours by appointment, during the weekly one on one sessions, and via slack.
  • What are the three possible grades applied to every assignment? What do they mean?
red - incomplete, orange - not yet, green - satisfactory
  • What is the link to your GitHub profile? Your profile image?
    https://github.com/nickycadavillo
  • In what week do we plan to review material?
Week 5, halfway through the program
  • At what time does class begin? Is attendance mandatory?
Lecture is 9 am and attendance is mandatory
  • After what amount of time are you counted late?
It is up to the instructors discretion, but you also must contact Dana, info@theironyard.com to let them know if you are running late.
  • When are you counted absent? Does that matter?
2 latenesses in one week are counted as absence. If you miss more than 4 lectures, you may not be allowed to graduate.
  • What is the most common kind of mistake in programming?
  • What are some strategies you can use to work through a difficult problem?
Break the problem down, use the pomodoro technique
  • What exactly is the ⌥ key, anyway?
It is the apple command key
  • What do you think will be the biggest barrier to your success in this class?
Overcoming a fixed mindset or the "imposter syndrome"
  • How can you identify with the Growth and Fixed Mindsets? In what areas do you feel fixed? Where do you see the most potential for growth?
I definitely identify with the fixed mindset but am working towards a growth mindset. I think after practice, I have began to improve and have more confidence in my coding. I believe that I have the most potential for growth in my javascript.
  • Do you consider yourself a top-down or bottom-up thinker and why?
Traditionally I consider myself a top-down thinker because I like to plan and absorb as much information as possible before I start a project.
  • What do you think about your "learning style" and the debate about their validity? Which would you categorize yourself as and why?
I am mostly an auditory learner, but I also have found that kinesthetic learning is a great practice.
