A new twist by @guto8797:

I sugest the addition of two special radio antennas to RT2. Using one of these will
allow you to communicate with any vessel with another of these antennas or with the
KSC. Obviously they would only work lets say untill 30KM (altough if you do a
direct conversion from Earth to Kerbin, Kerbins Ionosphere would start at 6km, no fun).
One antenna would be a basic radio one, much like the Comm 16 and another one
would be "always on", more power requirements and heavier.
