Updated to new issue definition. Original text for reference:
Right now it's hard for teams to advertise who they are / what types of players they're looking for and it's likewise difficult for players to let teams know who they are and what they're looking for. There are some improvements that could help the process:
Adding team blurbs/descriptions that show up in the 'join a team' grid
Adding a team's primary contact e-mails to the grid
If we add e-mails we may want to consider restricting that page to signed-in users only.
Original feature request:
I’ve been hoping to connect with a team using the team matchmaking system. Unfortunately, all teams are not alike – I’d like to connect with a more competitive team, not a casual one. However, there is no way to contact anyone on any of the teams listed to evaluate whether our play styles are a match.
The process I have to use now is…
Request to join a team
Login occasionally (because there’s no notification of activity on the site)…
…to see if I’ve been accepted (which may take days, because apparently most other folks are not polling the site status daily)
Once accepted, look for the primary contact info (which appears to be optional)…
Discover that field is empty…
…and start emailing random folks listed on the team trying to find out who’s the organizer I should talk to.
…to introduce myself and ask my question.
If it’s not a match, I have to…
…delete myself from the team
…Goto Step 1
I can imagine many infrastructure-y improvements to mitigate this pain, but the simplest would be to (A) require & (B) publish the primary contact email on the ‘list of teams with opens slots’ page. That is my feature suggestion.
