What would be the most effective strategies or best practices for implementing a feature to export vector or matrix data into formats like .txt, .xsls or .csv?

Hi! What I think is that it should be as simple as possible, like follows:

So the functions will rather look like this:

#fread A from filename.csv
#fwrite A to filename.csv

or

#fread A from filename.xls@sheet!A1:D4
#fwrite A to filename.xls@sheet!A1:D4

A can be vector or matrix variable (or just scalar).

Yes, these import/export functions would be a valuable addition to the software.

While working with time-history data, I initially searched for Matlab-like import functionality for .xlsx files in Calcpad. Though I eventually found a workable solution through copy-paste from a pre-formatted Excel list, dedicated import functions would streamline this process significantly.

I've also noticed a performance issue when handling larger datasets - specifically when working with vectors containing numerous entries (approximately 1,560 in my case), the program experiences noticeable lag. There's a several-second freeze when interacting with the vector data, which impacts the workflow.

Hi! This is probably related to rendering of large Html output. But it is outside our scope - it happens inside the web browser control. Internally, vector and matrix calculations are very fast. At least, much faster than MathCAD. Try to switch the AutoRun option off when working on the code and update the results by pressing F5 only when you need to see them.

Also, pasting large amount of code/data into the left pannel may slow down the program when it tries to parse and apply syntax highlighting. But this will be automatically resolved with the file read/write functions.

Reversing the loops when processing vectors and matrices can also enhance the performance, espesially when you are filling them with data.

I also experience the lag when pasting for instance .gef data as vectors into calcpad, would indeed be a big plus when that lag can be reduced , since much more people will start throwing bigger data files into calcpad to be processed when import functions are available.
