I'm glad someone's taking the initiative on this, companies shouldn't be able to pull stunts like MinIO did that impact such a huge amount of people. It would be one thing to announce this formally with warning, but this appears to be blatant, silent, and without any warning at all. Seriously, who makes a major change like this on a Sunday, that's a non-working day, at noon! 😕 I'm hoping this takes off, and perhaps introduces new features or QoL improvements! Thank you! 👍 |

🚀 Huge thanks @jnfinitym for spinning this up so quickly — amazing work! I had the same gut reaction when the rug got pulled, so I forked the original repo (along with some of the key dependencies) and have been deep in the weeds hacking on it the past few days. My goal was to get a fully-featured, Dockerized version of the original MinIO web UI — something you could point at any running MinIO instance or deploy alongside as a drop-in replacement. And since MinIO is so closely coupled with S3-compatible services, this could eventually grow into a more general-purpose admin interface for any S3-compatible object storage backend — not just MinIO. Just a thought. That said… it’s not been easy. The MinIO team clearly made things intentionally convoluted — everything’s tightly coupled and a bit of a pain to pull apart. But honestly? That just made me more determined. 🖕 Ever since the massive code deletion PR, I’ve been pissed and all-in on figuring this out. I’d love to help push this forward — development, testing, docs, whatever’s needed. I also went on a logo + branding bender last night (from the 🚽 office, no less) and came up with a few directions we could explore. If folks are open to it, I’d be happy to start a thread and open a PR to kick off a visual identity refresh — something that clearly separates this project from MinIO’s branding to avoid legal issues and give us room to evolve. Let’s build something better — transparent, user-focused, and community-driven. Looking forward to collaborating with everyone here. Let’s make this awesome. 🔧🔥 |

The fork is based on commit

; As far as I can tell, this is the latest one before features were removed, but please correct me if I am wrong. In my opinion, the goal should be to create a fully featured community version here, that doesn't paywall anything.
