It would be great to have a dummy host model as part of ccpp-framework that we can use to test and develop physics in various ccpp-physics repositories. For instance, selectively compile individual physics schemes and make sure that dependencies are met.
This capability will not be added to ccpp_prebuild.py, only to cap_gen.py.

@dustinswales@grantfirl@mkavulich Can this be closed? I remember I added a stub host model to the framework a year or so ago, and I also saw that some of you have been working on CI testing for CCPP (physics?).
@climbfuji I think we can close this down.
We have CI tests in the NCAR and UWM physics that run ccpp_prebuild_config.py for both participating hosts, SCM and UWM. Not sure if this checks all the boxes of what is needed.
@mkavulich@dustinswales@climbfuji I'm OK closing this issue. I don't think that the stub host model is being used in the way the issue describes (yet), but I think it could be. The CI tests for ccpp-physics run ccpp_prebuild for the SCM and FV3 when triggered by PRs. I suppose that this could be expanded to use the stub host with a configurable list of physics as well.
