SIT-2911: confirm and document resulting plugin behavior on empty Sophi responses

Is your enhancement related to a problem? Please describe.

The change in #183 in v1.0.9 didn't clearly define WHAT we changed the plugin behavior to, so let's make sure we document that (readmes, code comment, correcting 1.0.9 changelog entry) to make it more clear what the plugin does in that case now.
