I managed to bring everything up locally, but could you fully describe the system (how everything works)

The components are briefly described in the README, and here's our playbook which we follow when we host our CTFs. You might infer some things from that.

Other than that we have little documentation, given that this is a tool we mainly use ourselves. Do you have anything specific that you want to know?
