Control Line-breaks before elseif or else ?

LuaLS is extremely fantastic, but currently I have one frustration.

With format-on-save I can't get it to retain blank lines before 'else' or 'elseif', which would help me to break blocks of code containing multiple if/then/else/elseif/end like:

local this, msg, GUI_MSG_OK, MyTool, MyToolDialog = {}, 10, 10, {}, {}

if (msg == this.PRESET_SAVE) then
    local dlg = MyToolDialog:new()

    if dlg:Modal() == GUI_MSG_OK then
        local preset = {}
        preset.mode = this.mode

        if (this.mode == this.MODE_GRID) then
            preset.colCount = this.colCount
        elseif (this.mode == this.MODE_CELL) then
            preset.cell = this.cell
        elseif (this.mode == this.MODE_FXML) then

        elseif (this.mode == this.MODE_AUTO) then
            if (true) then
                preset.auto = this.auto
            end
        elseif (this.mode == this.MODE_WIRE) then

        end

Ideally i would be able to control if I can have blanks lines above 'else' or 'elseif' - like below:

I am already using the line_space_after_if_statement type declarations.

you can set line_space_around_block = max(2) or line_space_around_block = keep
