When I create a new layer, I enter the name in the "Layer Name" sidebar and save it. At this time, I can see the layer name I defined in the layer column on the right, such as "Pads".
But when I save the file and open it again, I find that I can't see the name I defined in the layer sidebar on the right. I can only see numbers such as "1/0", but "Pads" is not visible, which causes some trouble in reading the layout. Only when I perform layer operations, I can see the layer name I defined in the "Editor Options" sidebar.
How can I conveniently see the name I defined?
Thank you.

This is a limitation of GDS (if you are talking about saving and loading files).
OASIS can save the layer name. But the generally recommended way is to use a KLayout Technology for this. (You can find them in Tools > Manage Technologie. In there there is a .lyp file, that's the layer definitions file.
