It might be useful to provide the ability to define an alarm by simply providing a unique name and specifying it belongs in a particular group, and all other attributes would be defined by the group. It appears many alarms share identical corrective actions, rationale, and other attributes and when asked to document alarms ops did so by grouping them. We could update our master alarm database (registered-alarms topic) to allow defining alarms two possible ways: (1) non group alarms defined by providing all attributes or (2) group alarms defined by providing a name and group membership. We would need to define the group attributes somewhere though, either in a new topic or perhaps we could add a Boolean flag to the registered alarms topic indicating if a record is a single alarm definition or a group definition.
