With #6489/#6490 making its way to QA, we'll soon cut 4.20. We need to address one indexing issue as well (#6665). What better time to start on the release notes?

@qqmyers I've started on the release notes and I have a question as I integrate the release notes you provided in support of multiple stores. There were some very detailed upgrade instructions (thanks!), but I'm wondering how I should present them in the step-by-step upgrade instructions at the bottom of the release notes. Can you advise or just update the 4.20 notes branch directly with your thoughts?

@djbrooke do you have particular concerns? They key point is that you have to run the appropriate file or s3 set of create-jvm-options commands for it to work. The warning that you won't see your files if you don't doesn't need to be there I guess (the release notes don't usually tell you what will go wrong of you don't follow directions...). Some of the other sentences about why you need those commands or what happens if you choose other ids could be left out - to set up multiple stores or to customize your store id and label, see the docs and/or ask on the community list.

@qqmyers thanks, no concerns. I copied some the content from the release note you provided into step 5. I also had missed when you mentioned "restarting the Glassfish service is all that is needed to complete the change," which answered my question about ordering.

  • Need to add any new JVM options and DB settings
  • Need to update use cases
