the example in the SWORD API docs for creating a dataset should be cleaned up, as it's slightly confusing.

  • the "affiliation" attribute of "dcterms:creator" isn't preserved by the API (not preserved under "dcterms:publisher" either, but the example doesn't imply that it is)
  • docs state that there should be a "dcterms:contributor" with attribute "Contact", but example XML doesn't have one.

In May, as part of trying to keep the crosswalk at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10Luzti7svVTVKTA-px27oq3RxCUM-QbiTkm8iMd5C54 up to date, I tested using the SWORD API to create a dataset and updated the mappings in that crosswalk, specifically in column M (DC Terms, SWORD import) of the Citation metadata tab.

Also added some comments on about other mappings indicated on that SWORD API page that don't seem to be used when using the SWORD API to create datasets.

To focus on the most important features and bugs, we are closing issues created before 2020 (version 5.0) that are not new feature requests with the label 'Type: Feature'.

If you created this issue and you feel the team should revisit this decision, please reopen the issue and leave a comment.
