Getting custom publication types to show up as project publications

Hi! Long time user of Wowchemy (been around since academic v. 3.something and I really enjoy it)

However, I am struggling to get a custom publication type to show up as as a publication of a project. I have a custom publication type ("9") for which I have a separate featured widget and that works great - I can filter and see that publciation type everywhere where I need on my website. However, if I associate a project to that publication type it doesn't show up in said project, while if I put it as a publication (i.e. a not custom publication type) it works.

I admit that I am not rocking the latest version of Wowchemy but so far had no other issues with my old version. Is this something simple I am overlooking or is this something ancient that has been fixed in later versions?
