Other software aimed at automating flood risk assessment is often paid and proprietary, but there exists other
open-source or free software such as FastFlood and FloodAdapt that can also automate flood risk
assessment[@fastflood; @flood-adapt]. These applications rely on the user's computer for all processing. FReDT runs the
processing on Celery workers, which can be configured to run locally, through on-premise servers, or in cloud
environments, depending on the needs of the users. Running FReDT online improves access to the software, instead of
limiting it to those with powerful desktop environments.

FReDT addresses the challenges of flood risk assessment by automating processes and integrating real-time data for analysis,
prediction, and visualization. This makes assessments more efficient and cost-effective, enabling the
exploration of hundreds or even thousands of scenarios. It also provides decision-makers with significantly more
detailed and comprehensive information, facilitating informed decisions.
