Blue 'overlay' when using scrcpy #5089

Environment

  • OS: Ubuntu 20.04
  • Scrcpy version: 2.5
  • Installation method: manual build (I run it from a local copy of the repo via ./run x ...)
  • Device model: Samsung Galaxy A15 and Google Pixel 3
  • Android version: Samsung: 14; Google: 12

Describe the bug

I consistently get some kind of blue 'overlay' over my screen. There are a few different actions I can take to clear it, but it typically comes back after just a few minutes. I really only use scrcpy to play one specific game, so I'm not sure if this happens with other apps or not. If I leave the app, the overlay is not there, so it appears to be 'attached' to the app. This happens with both phones.

This blue overlay appears both on the scrcpy window on the computer and on the phone. If I close scrcpy and continue only on the phone, the overlay is there, but does not come back once I clear it. It only appears when using scrcpy and happens whether I'm using a usb connection or wifi.

Running scrcpy with the -Vverbose flag did not appear to have anything unusual when the overlay appears vs when it does not.

Here are screenshots of what I expect to see:

Versus what I actually see:

That's very weird. I don't know.

I was afraid of that, but thought I'd check just in case.
