Often users won't have need to share filter nodes (e.g. PathFilter) between nodes/branches, and the extra node added to the NodeGraph could become a nuisance.

Option could appear as a drop down with choices of 'Simple Path', 'External Path', 'Other Filters Yet To Be Defined'
