It's currently not possible to toggle 9b87a55 without reloading the page. The issue is not limited to this option, and it also affects popup depth as noted in #426. This PR already includes lots of unrelated changes and supporting it would require major refactoring or at least modifying multiple entry points, so I'll leave that for another pull request.
