Running version Chrome 50.0.2661.102 (64-bit) on OSX El-Capitan Version 10.11.4 (15E65) and my dev tools look like this since Chrome released their new dark theme:

I'm having the same issue on Ubuntu 16.04.1 (64-bit) Google Chrome Version 53.0.2785.116 (64-bit).

I made some fixes here: https://github.com/mliq/material-design-devtools/tree/bugfix/chrome_53.0.2785.116.

Going to clean it up and make a pull request soon but you can use it for now if you like.

Feel free to make any comments about what I missed or screwed up if you see anything, but it is at least a large improvement.
