as this image is intended for ruby/rails apps I was thinking whether it would make sense to include git as well as Bundler allows to include git dependencies in your Gemfile.

It would be good to include them, but I was considering the fact that those could be added as layers by the other parties that needed it.
I guess there are various view points and arguments around this and it might be good for me to hear more from you and others before we do make this change.
