Booting from an NVMe USB-c dongle.

Did anyone tried to use Clover to boot from an USB-C Hub with M.2 SSD Enclosure?

Something like this:

It works if I use the USB to USB-C dongle ( This is the preboot logs: https://pastebin.com/HLVsjggC )

But nothing shows up if I use an USB 3.0 to USB-C dongle or even an PCIe to USB-C card ( The preboot logs for that: https://pastebin.com/dj18cZt5 )

I have added the NvmExpressDxe.efi to clover.
Also I have an USB-C to SATA adapter, and that one works with Clover and the USB 3.0 adapter, but not with the PCIe USB-C card.

The dongle can boot form the SSD if I connect it to my 1 year old laptop's USB-C port.

If anyone has any ideas I am willing to try them out.
The motherboard is an Asus 990fx r2.

I got it to work!. Unfortunately not with Clover.
I used the kexec feature part of the linux kernel.

If anyone is interested this are the steps:
Install a strip down version of linux on an medium that your machine can boot. I used fedora server on an internal sata drive.
From this point on all the instructions are fedora based but should be translatable to other distros.

Main requirement, make sure the distro you are choosing supports kexec.

1. get fedora server network install.
2. install fedora bare minimum on the bootable medium.
3. install kexec-tools:
   > dnf install kexec-tools
4. Disable nuveau if you are planning to use nvidia proprietary drivers on the main os, otherwise you will end up with a very GREEN screen at the boot process.

> echo "options nouveau modeset=0" >> /etc/modprobe.d/denylist.conf
> grubby --args=modprobe.blacklist=nouveau --update-kernel=ALL

> dracut --force
> grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/efi/EFI/redhat/grub.cfg

5. Create a "boot-kexec.target" file in /etc/systemd/system/

6. Create a "boot-kexec.service" file in /etc/systemd/system/

ExecStart=/usr/bin/mount -o defaults /dev/sdf2 /mnt/
ExecStart=/usr/sbin/kexec -l -s $( ls -Art /mnt/vmlinuz* | tail -n 1 ) --initrd=$( ls -Art /mnt/initramfs* | tail -n 1 ) --command-line="$( cat /mnt/grub2/grub.cfg | grep -oP 'set kernelopts="\K[^"]+' )"
ExecStart=/usr/bin/systemctl kexec

WantedBy=boot-kexec.target

7. Figure out where the boot partition is situated on your main os drive and change the line ExecStart=/usr/bin/mount -o defaults /dev/sdf2 /mnt/ in the "boot-kexec.service" file to match your location. you can use fdisk -l for that.
8. (WARNING do this step once everything works, otherwise you may end up being locked out of the boot loader) Make the bootloader os boot into the kexec files:
   > systemctl set-default boot-kexec.target

All done.
