Updated documentation, with a quick start guide, worked examples, etc.

We should also think about whether to leave the documentation as LaTeX-based or whether to switch to something more web friendly (eg, MarkDown, which would let us use GitHub to create a web site with the documentation).

I agree what markdown+documenting within git itself is a good idea!
