In the event a user faces the following events(s):
Node is disconnected,
Corrupted blockchain detected,
Unable to start blockchain,
A JavaScript error occurred in the main process; or
when there's a mandatory upgrade (please read release notes first)
User will need to reindex and synchronise from 0%. If you're a a new user who's syncing from 0%, the snapshot provides a quicker way to sync to ~90% (with good internet connection it should take ~20 minutes). Or you may stick to the conventional way of syncing from 0% — may take up to 12 hours or longer.
Good to know:
All snapshots are automatically stored in;
Mac: /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Defi/snapshot; and
Windows: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\DeFi Blockchain\snapshot folder respectively
After successful application of snapshot, user will be prompt with the option to delete snapshot via the app interface
How to Reindex
1. Go to the app's Menu Bar > Wallet > Reindex Wallet
you may choose to Backup Wallet first if you have not made a backup before
2. Node will proceed to restart
3. After which, at the bottom left hand corner, click on i to trigger Snapshot
4. Select your nearest region
5. During the snapshot download, the app will download and unpack the snapshot contents
It is recommended:
ensure sufficient storage (temporary) for snapshot
to leave the app running with good internet connection
turn off auto-lock / screen saver on your Mac/PC to prevent interruption
6. When snapshot is unpacked & successful, user may select DELETE SNAPSHOT & RESTART
7. After your app restarts, synchronisation for the remaining blocks should continue at ~90%, leave your app running till it reaches 100%
