Clicking on protein plot does nothing with WGLMakie

I'm trying to implement the Mutation demo in Genie/Stipple to showcase uses of Julia in Biology. I'm making progress, but there's one thing not working: clicking on the amino acids does not select them. This only happens in the browser when using WGLMakie, if I click on the window opened by GLMakie I'm able to make selections and perform mutations. Here's a video showing the issue:

I'm new to using Makie so I'm not sure how interactive plots are with the WGLMakie backend. Is this normal behavior, or are there any options to fix it?
