The current stable version of yara is 4.4.0, but the current codebase can not compiled with that version. This makes it impossible to create a package, because the dependency is newer (see here: https://gitlab.alpinelinux.org/alpine/aports/-/issues/9625).
I am aware of the different branches for different versions of yara, but there is no branch for the 4.4.x version. Is there a valid reason for that branches? I can not see the need 3+ special yara related branches in various state of divergence to the master branch.
