How to perform an App Service Plan soft restart

The API App Service Plans - Restart Web Apps provides the parameter softRestart to perform a soft restart of the App Service Plan which causes a restart of the process (I assume the w3wp.exe process in the case of a ASP.MVC website) rather than a full restart of the App Service Plan.

Is there any way to take advantage of this parameter using Az PowerShell module or with just plain PowerShell code?

Restart-AzWebApp cmdlet does not support soft restart yet. However, Invoke-AzRestMethod can help you work around it. It allows you to make custom HTTP requests to the Azure Resource Manager (ARM) endpoint using the Az context.
