Blocks: Option to display posts based on date similar to option to display posts based on category or tag

What

There is a gap in our blocks' functionality when it comes to displaying a list of posts based on publication date.

The analogy that blocks such as the Blog Posts Block and Query Loop Block currently support is the option to display posts based on category, tag and author.

It would be great if these blocks could be extended to display posts based on publication dates such as a publication year.

Why

Currently, the only real options for reviewing posts by publication date are to manipulate date-based post permalinks to manually create a link to display this view, or click through to posts from the Calendar Block. This isn't particular convenient.

How

Extend the post filter options in the Blog Posts Block or the Query Loop Block to include a field to select a publication date option (perhaps a year, or year + month), here:

It seems that the parameters (arguments from REST API) that would allow that functionality are before and after listed in this report:

They haven't been implemented. Commenting on the above core issue would help to raise awareness I hope.
