Key's for remote web server

I'm trying to use AWS EC2 Linux running Apache2 as my AllSky remote website.
I've:
Got Apache2 running
Created a id_rsa key as per allsky wiki instructions
From Pi home/me/.ssh I copied the contents of id_rsa.pub
Added this key to the remote EC2 Linux server by pasting into the authorized_keys file the contents of id_rsa.pub
Put id_rsa into the private key of Filezilla
Tested with Filezilla and Copied allsky web files into Apache /var/www/html/allsky folder
Configured AllSky config and FTP settings
But when I website/install.sh I get - Fatal error Host key verification failed
I'm confused mainly I guess because I don't understand key pairs.
Help !

I gave up on AWS and installed my site on infinity free. Worked first time.
