Custom font glyph not being rendered by waybar

I've patched my font to add a new glyph for use in Waybar. However, it is not being rendered at all, a blank space is seen instead. I have confirmed that the font has been patched correctly and the new glyph is present as it is rendered correctly by my terminal emulator (alacritty) as well as polybar. I also ran strace (strace waybar 2>log.txt) to confirm that waybar is accessing the correct TTF file. What could possibly be the issue?

My Waybar version is v0.10.4
