.SH NAME
tmond \- tMon distributed resource monitor daemon
.SH SYNOPSIS
.B tmond
[\c
.BI \-p \ port\fP\c
]
.br
.SH DESCRIPTION
\fBtmond\fP is the daemon part of the tMon Distributed Resource Monitor. The
\fBtmon\fP(1) client creates a TCP/IP connection to the \fBtmond\fP daemon
running on each of the hosts that are to be monitored. The daemon calculates
the resource usage from the \fB/proc\fP filesystem.
.SH OPTIONS
.TP
.BI \-p \ port\fP
This parameter specifies the \fBport\fP that the daemon should listen on. This
parameter is optional, with the default being port \fB7777\fP.
.SH DIAGNOSTICS
The daemon calculates the resource usage from \fB/proc/stat\fP (CPU info) and
\fB/proc/meminfo\fP (memory) and statvfs for the disk usage. In order to allow this process,
support for the virtual /proc filesystem MUST be compiled into the kernel and
it must be mounted.
.LP
For the sake of convenience, the \fBtmond\fP daemon us using the lsb standard to conform with debian. The daemon writes its process id to the file \fB/var/run/tmond.pid\fP. And a lock file to /var/lock/tmond.lock.
